EXCLUSIVE | F.E.U.: The Deadly Alliance Between ‘Los Chapitos’ And ‘El Mencho’
This alliance is called F.E.U. (Fuerzas Especiales Unión, or Special Forces Union), marked by a patch featuring a rooster.
ZAPOPAN, Jalisco.— The armed wings of two of Mexico's most lethal criminal organizations have just joined forces, according to a source within 'Los Chapitos', the faction of the Sinaloa Cartel led by the sons of Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán.
In an effort to wrest control from 'La Mayiza'—the Sinaloa Cartel faction formerly led by Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada and now by his son, Ismael Zambada Sicairos, also known as 'Mayito Flaco'—'Los Chapitos' have teamed up with Mexico's other major criminal organization, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
This alliance is called F.E.U. (Fuerzas Especiales Unión, or Special Forces Union), marked by a patch featuring a rooster—representing the legendary CJNG leader Nemesio 'El Mencho' Oseguera—and a slice of pizza, the symbol of 'La Chapiza', or 'Los Chapitos'.
The conflict within the Sinaloa Cartel escalated after the abduction of the elusive drug lord Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada on July 25, allegedly by Joaquín Guzmán López. Since then, Culiacán, the capital of Sinaloa, has become the epicenter of violence between the two factions. Killings, kidnappings, disappearances, and armed clashes have intensified. On one side, 'El Mayito Flaco' and his allies seek revenge for Zambada’s abduction and to take control of Culiacán. On the other, 'Los Chapitos' aim to eliminate 'Los Mayos' and claim dominance over one of the world’s most powerful criminal organizations.
Over the past month, both factions have sought more men, money, and weapons. They’ve even attempted to form alliances with Mexican government forces, though that hasn’t been enough to defeat their rivals. Rumors of 'Los Chapitos' allying with 'El Mencho' began circulating on social media in early October, and now, for the first time, a member of 'Los Chapitos' confirms the details of this alliance to SAGA.
